Human Design Basics

A blueprint of your soul.

Human Design is the science of differentiation. It’s a framework that shows how truly unique you are. No two charts are alike.

Human Design teaches you how to:

  • Make aligned decisions using your Strategy & Authority

  • Understand your energy type and how it interacts with others

  • Recognize your gifts, patterns, and purpose

  • Parent, partner, work, play and live in a way that feels natural and effective for you!

It's not a belief system. It's an experiment. Start with your Type, Strategy & Authority and see how your life begins to shift.

Human Design is a system rooted in both ancient wisdom & modern Science.

Your unique chart which is calculated from your exact birth time, date, and place blends elements from four powerful systems:

  • Western Astrology - Exactly where the planets were when you were born, your unique design and personality

  • Chinese I Ching - 64 hexagrams = the 64 gates in your chart

  • Hindu-Brahmin Chakra System - Your 9 centers: energy hubs for your mind, emotions, identity & more

  • The Kabbalah Tree of Life - Your channels: how energy flows between centers

At its core, Human Design is based on the understanding that we are all wired differently. We’re designed to thrive in different environments, eat in different ways, move through life at different paces, and share unique gifts.

But we live in a world that often rewards sameness — encouraging us to push, perform, and fit in. As a result, many of us end up living out of alignment with our true selves, which can lead to frustration, resentment, anger, or disappointment.

Human Design invites you to let go of who you were told to be and return to who you already are. It’s a permission slip to embrace your energy, your timing, your sensitivity and find more ease, flow, and fulfillment in everyday life.

The first things to know are your Type & Strategy. 

Your Type is the energetic role you’re here to play. Your Strategy is how you're designed to interact with the world. Understanding your Type & Strategy helps you conserve energy, make aligned choices, and attract the right opportunities.

The 5 Energy types

  • Manifestors

    The trailblazers. Manifestors are designed to initiate, inform, and move independently. They bring new ideas and energy into the world. Its important for them to follow their own path and honor their energy, knowing when to ride the highs or rest in the lows.

  • Generators

    Warm, magnetic builders here to create what they love. Their superpower is sustainable energy and works best when they’re responding to what lights them up. Their biggest obstacle is learning how to say ‘No’ to what doesn’t make them happy.

  • Manifesting Generators

    Fast-moving and multi-passionate. Man Gens are here to pivot, build, and inspire. Their energy is a blend of Manifestor initiation and Generator response.

  • Projectors

    The wise guides. Projectors are designed to see how people, projects and systems can be more efficient. They are here to be invited and recognized to share their insight and wisdom. They do best when they honor their rest.

  • Reflectors

    The rare mirrors. Reflectors reflect the energy of their environment. They are most effective when they live in the present moment. Their rhythm is lunar and fluid, and they teach us about collective health.

Once you know your type & strategy you want to get to know your authority.

Your Authority is how you're designed to make decisions. There are 8 of them.

Your chart will quickly tell you which one you are.

  • 🌀 Feel into it over time.
    Clarity comes on the other side of the emotional wave. If you have Emotional Authority, never make big decisions in the heat of the moment and give yourself time.
    Key phrase:There is no truth in the now.

  • 🔥 Trust your gut.
    This is a real-time yes/no response from the body. It feels like expansion or contraction. Follow what feels like a “hell yes.”
    Key phrase: If it’s not a hell yes, it’s a no.

  • 🌿 Use your intuition & instincts.
    This is quiet and immediate. It’s a whisper of knowing. Your first hit is usually your truth, and it won’t repeat itself.
    Key phrase: I trust my instincts and move fast.

  • 💥 Say it out loud.
    Your willpower and voice hold the truth. Speaking spontaneously can bring clarity.
    Key phrase:When I speak my truth out loud does it feel like something that will serve me?

  • 💖 Follow what you truly desire.
    This is a heart-based decision-making style. It's about being honest about what you want and trusting that your desires matter.
    Key phrase: Is my heart really in this and does it serve me?

  • 🔊 You hear your truth.
    This authority requires talking it out with yourself or trusted people to hear what resonates. Your voice is your compass.
    Key phrase:I find clarity when I speak.

  • 🌎 Clarity comes from your space and sounding board.
    You need to be in the right environment with the right people to access your truth.
    Key phrase:Right people, right place = clarity.

  • 🌕 Time reveals the truth.
    You’re designed to move with the rhythm of the moon. Wait a full lunar cycle to make big decisions and track how you feel throughout.
    Key phrase: Wait it out and let life show you.
